Swarming Heads - Pedestal

It has always been a pleasure working with the Powerhouse Museum, this is taking it to another level, Matthew and the team has been very generous in getting this lovely pedestal made at no cost to MARCS (and in no time!) for the "Swarming Heads" installation. Thank you guys!

The MARCS Technical Team welcome their Robot "TECHIE"

The Technical team received our robot today. We have decided to call him TECHIE! As you can see we have put TECHIE straight to work, and have attached ears so that he can field ALL on going technical requests. This gives the technical team the opportunity to put their feet up and and enjoy a well earned rest!

SCM Student Presentation

Answering a question from Prof. Simeon
Adopt-a-Robot is a collective effort supported by many individuals. On Monday (24/10/2011) we had two students from the School of Computing and Mathematics (SCM), UWS presenting their work related to the project titled 'Interfacing with your Thinking Head'. They presented the open source software they are developing to help talk to the robots through the web. One of the highlights of the presentation was the Head of School, Computing and Maths Prof. Simeon Simoff joining the presentation through a 'telepresence' robot! (Well we're still a few steps away from having a fully functional robot, but should be ready in a few weeks). The presentation was part of MARCS's weekly meeting series called the MMM (Monday Morning Meeting). The team involved in the development of the Robot Web Interface are Dominic Colyer, Daniel Grech, Kynan McCutcheon, Patricio Alzamora and they are supervised by Dr. Zhuhan Jiang.
